The winger was withdrawn from Senegal’s AFCON qualifier
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been given an injury scare after £30 million summer signing Sadio Mane was taken off after 66 minutes of Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia on Saturday.
Senegal ran out 2-0 winners over Nambia, however, they suffered a blow after losing Mane with just under half an hour to play, with the 24-year-old reportedly withdrawn as a precaution.
Klopp only brought the Senegal international to Anfield from Southampton this summer, and has already proved to be a quality acquisition, after making his name in the Premier League with the Saints in recent seasons.
Mane scored a fine goal on his Premier League debut for the Reds, away to Arsenal in a 4-3 win, but has already missed one game for the Reds this campaign, after a shoulder injury kept him out of Liverpool’s 2-0 loss at Burnley.
But it currently seems far fetched to suggest that the winger will miss the Reds’ first home game of the season, at home to Leicester City.
Recently speaking about his big-money move to the Anfield, Mane said: “I have always believed in my quality and I know what I can do for my team.
“I just try to work in training every day and give my best for the club and for the fans.
“I was very happy to score my first goal in my first game for Liverpool. Most importantly we won the game.
“I want to thank everyone for all the support I’ve had from the fans and from the club.”
