Barcelona striker Luis Suárez confesses that he’s quite keen to get the club’s bustling Christmas schedule in progress.
Suarez believes that this will help make up for when Barcelona couldn’t claim the title. The club are presently getting ready for a winter schedule which will see them face Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid as well – after the El Clásico dates had to be set for later.
“A very nice month is ahead,” Suárez acknowledges. “We like those, both as footballers and also people. There will be a Clásico too. You have to be mentally and physically prepared. Maybe we won’t win every game or have it easy, but we hope to do our best with the support of the fans.”
“We have not had a simple league start. We gave away points that in other years we hadn’t lost, but we know that other teams are also competing well.”
“The other day, whilst I was looking at photos with my wife, we found one from 2004 in which we were in Barcelona on vacation and I stood next to a giant image of Ronaldinho,” he added.
“For me, then, playing at Barcelona was something very distant. Having arrived at Barcelona and having achieved what I have achieved, both at a personal and team level, is something I never imagined.”
“I’m proud to be in the top five scorers at the best club in the world, a club that has so much history. When I arrived at Barcelona, I fulfilled a dream. I wanted to enjoy being with my teammates, but I didn’t even think I would get to this level.”
