Luke Shaw has insisted he feels very honoured after getting a call up to the England team. Gareth Southgate named him in the Three Lions squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League.
The left back has been a revelation this season following his brilliant campaign so far as the defender has become the first choice left back for Jose Mourinho this season.
His excellent outing convinced Gareth Southgate who included him in the England side. Shaw doesn’t have much competition in the England squad at his position but it remains to be seen whether the English gaffer decides to include him in the starting lineup or not.
Shaw said, “Obviously I am very honoured and privileged for getting selected. I am just really looking forward to it.
“It’s a really good vibe and place to be in coming off the World Cup. The first training session today was good and I’m looking forward to a good week away with England.”
He went on to add, “During the World Cup, Ashley Young was really good and one of our key players for the way we played. Of course I feel sympathy him.
‘There are a few other left backs in the league that are top left-backs. It’s a tough decision for Gareth but it is a good thing for him to have these choices.”
