Juventus are growing more and more confident that midfielder Arturo Vidal will remain in Turin this summer.

Vidal returned with the rest of the team back to Turin after their pre-season tour of Asia, and has been given two days off.

Asked about his plans, the Chilean said: “My future is to train well.”

While this wasn’t the commitment to the club Juventus were hoping for, they are the confidence in Vidal staying is becoming stronger, meaning United are beginning to look elsewhere for their midfielder. Their new target is thought to be Roma’s Kevin Strootman, despite the Italian side insisting he is not for sale.

Strootman is still recovering from a knee injury that ruled him out of the World Cup and it was thought that United would hold off until January before making a move to see how the 24-year-old recovered.

But freshreports in Italy suggest that United could hold talks with Strootman about a move this summer and oversee his rehabilitation in England instead.
