Manchester City are closing in on signing Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis, despite the Argentine joining the club just a few months ago after leaving Malaga on a free transfer.
The former Bayern Munich defender played under City boss Manuel Pellegrini during their Malaga days and he also left the club when the Chilean manager did, but it appears that they could be ready for an early surprise reunion.
Demichelis left Malaga for Madrid on a free transfer earlier this summer, but after a defensive crisis has hit the Etihad Stadium, Pellegrini is desperate to land a new centre-back and his attentions are now firmly focused on the Argentine.
City are currently without Vincent Kompany and Mateja Nastasic, so it is thought that Demichelis will provide much needed depth to the team.
