Manchester City are reportedly looking into another eye-popping £50m move for Leicester City fullback, Ben Chillwell.
Pep Guardiola has been forced to return Fabian Delph to the left-back position after Benjamin Mendy’s injury hiccup, set to last till the end of the year. City registered their first loss of the season against Chelsea last weekend which made them drop to the second spot of the Premier League, behind Liverpool.
Mendy made a strong return to the City lineup from the break of the 2017/18 season but his injury history does make additions necessary for Pep. While Danilo can be utilised in the position along with Delph and Oleksandr Zinchenko, he is better suited to the right flank.
Chilwell just signed a contract extension with Leicester City, stretching his services to the club till the summer of 2024. At 21, he has managed to grab the starting spot under Claude Puel and is one of the best young players in the Premier League along with his teammate, James Maddison.Be
The Englishman has also registered 5 appearances for his country and is already making a strong case for future selection. He is enthusiastic going forward and could be an ideal fit into Guardiola’s system.
The question lies in whether Chilwell himself will take a note out of his teammate’s book, Harry Maguire and reject a move to one of the Premier League big guns.
