Manchester United and Tottenham have been told they must qualify for the Champions League to stand a chance of signing Memphis Depay.

The 20 year old scored twice during the Netherlands’ run to the semi-final of the World Cup, and looked set to link up with Louis van Gaal again this season.

Tottenham were also interested in the talented winger, but Depay chose to remain in Holland, at PSV Eindhoven.

However Depay admitted to Dutch football magazine, Voetbal International that a move away could be on the cards.

“Maybe I’ll will play in the Champions League next season with PSV, maybe it will be with another beautiful club.

“I’m not planning anything.

“I just want to keep taking steps in my career.”

Manchester United currently sit third in the Premier League, whilst Tottenham find themselves in 7th place, but only 2 points off fourth spot.
