Real Madrid striker set for Old Trafford move?

Manchester United officials have reportedly been spotted holding transfer talks with representatives of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.

United‘s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been pictured holding talks with the agent of Benzema ahead of a possible switch to Old Trafford with The Red Devils in the market for a new striker.

Strikers Leaving United

Radamel Falcao has been sent back to AS Monaco after a failed loan-spell, whilst Robin Van Persie has admitted that he may leave the club this Summer in order to play regular first-team football.

The Dutchman struggled with injuries throughout the 2014/2015 campaign and only managed 10-goals, leading Louis Van Gaal to look in the market for a new striker.

United have been linked with several strikers in recent weeks, including Christian Benteke from Aston Villa, but after the latest reports emerged, it looks like Benzema could be a real option.

United and Madrid Business

According to Manchester press, Woodward was spotted with Karim Djaziri, Benzema’s agent, at the Savoy Hotel in London this week and it’s speculated that the two were discussing a potential deal.

It’s believed the Premier League side are prepared to offer as high as ÂŁ40million for the Frenchman, but could also use David De Gea as part of the deal.

Madrid are strong admirers of the Spanish goalkeeper and are desperate to sign him this Summer as a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas, so a potential swap-deal for the striker could occur.
