Manchester United and Liverpool have been quoted £18m to sign Xerdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich.

Both teams tried to negotiate a deal during the summer, only to be told the player was not for sale. However since then Shaqiri has openly criticised Bayern manager Pep Guardiola over a lack of playing opportunities, and is reportedly looking to secure a move elsewhere.

Manchester United are willing to meet the valuation and are preparing a January bid, while Liverpool are yet to make a decision. Louis van Gaal is continuing to search for new recruits as he looks to reshape Manchester United’s first team squad, and it is believed they have money to spend in January again following their summer spree.
