Loris Karius has been in the limelight for nearly two months now because of his blunders in the Champions League final which gave Real Madrid two goals. He recently made an error against Borussia Dortmund which added to his discredit despite the error not resulting in a goal. However, Karius found support in teammate Mohamed Salah who took to Twitter to express his support for the German goalkeeper.
Salah tweeted, “Stay strong Karius, it has happened to the best of players. Ignore those who hate.” Previously, Karius took to instagram to respond to criticism.
Karius’ place in the playing XI is already in jeopardy and with the arrival of Brazilian Alisson, it seems highly unlikely that the 25-year old will be Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper during the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp defended Karius but also mentioned that he will continue to be criticised until he produces some stellar performances.
Liverpool began their International Champions Cup campaign with a defeat against Borussa Dortmund and will be looking to come back strong in their remaining matches against both the Manchester clubs. The Reds take on City on Thursday before locking horns with United on Saturday.
