Napoli make loan offer for Matteo Darmian

Napoli have made a loan offer for out of favor Manchester United full back Matteo Darmian. The Italian wants to leave Old Trafford this summer after a poor season in 2017-18. Darmian made a total of 17 appearances across all competitions.

Despite expressing his desire to leave Old Trafford, Darmian has been active in Manchester United’s pre-season matches. However, it seems that the 28-year old will leave Manchester as Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentis said that the club has made an offer.

De Laurentis said, “It’s true that we asked for Darmian on loan with a right to buy.” He also said that Napoli were also looking at other options. De Laurentis stated, “We are looking at six profiles. There could also be Benjamin Henrichs from Bayer Leverkusen. Regarding Santiago Arias, I don’t know yet, we are on the way, so it’s all to see.”

Darmian joined Manchester United from Torino in the summer of 2015 on a fee believed to be £12.7 million on a four-year deal. According to Napoli’s offer, Darmian would spend the final season of his contract at Napoli before joining the club on a free transfer next summer.
