Swansea City midfielder set for St James’ Park
Newcastle United are close to signing Swansea City star Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports.
The midfielder has made 77 appearances for the Swans since making a switch from Liverpool back in 2013, and although he’s a crucial part of Swansea‘s first-team, they could allow him to move on this window.
According to reports, if Shelvey does move on, Newcastle is his likely destination, with the Magpies ready to spend around £10million on the Englishman.
Shelvey has come under criticism from Swansea fans recently after he looked uninterested in their game with Oxford United in the FA Cup yesterday lunchtime.
Despite losing 3-2 and the game slipping away from them, there was a moment in the match where the midfielder was spotted with his hands on his knees rather than trying to win the ball back.
It’s believed Shelvey is keen on leave the Liberty Stadium as he’s not the biggest fan of interim-manager Alan Curtis, who’s been given the job until the end of the season.
