Both are looking at potential pay rises

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club will offer Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez new contracts, but only in the summer.

The Frenchman wants to extend his star players’ stay at the Emirates Stadium, however, he also admits that it is not a priority.

The Germany international Ozil is currently earning ÂŁ140,000-a-week, whereas the Chile international Sanchez is receiving ÂŁ130,000-a-week; both are under contract until 2018.

It is believed that negotiations with the pair will begin in May 2016, with the club willing to offer both Ozil and Sanchez pay rises whilst trying to tie them down until 2020.

There are even rumours that Ozil’s new deal will keep him in North London until 2021 due to his overall performance so far this season – the 27-year old already has 15 Premier League assists to his name.

“We’ll deal with that later in the season. We focus on the present, we deal with that at the end of May,” said Wenger.
