Former-Newcastle United goalkeeper has sadly died this afternoon

It has been announced that former-Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has passed away this afternoon following his cardiac arrest last week.

The 47-year-old suffered the cardiac arrest nine days ago whilst out running in his homeland of Czech Republic and it has been announced today that he has sadly passed away.

After collapsing whilst out jogging, Srnicek was taken to a local hospital where he was put in an induced coma.

His agent, Steve Wraith, said the final brain scans that came through on Monday had shown “irreversible damage” and the decision “had to be taken” to switch off the life support machine.

His agent added: “Pav passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, 29 December 2015, with his family by his side.”

Everyone at SillySeason would like to pass on their thoughts and well-wishes to Pavel’s family.

Rest In Peace.
