Pep Guardiola believes it’s difficult to challenge both Real Madrid and Barcelona in the transfer market.

Manchester City are believed to be one of the potential suitors of Ajax wonder kid Frenkie de Jong who has been one of the hottest prospects in the European circuit currently.

Guardiola has been on the lookout for some covers in the midfield sections and has reportedly identified the 21 year old Dutch international. De Jong has been a pivotal part of the Ajax setup this term and has garnered interests among the top clubs with his exemplary display in the middle of the pitch.

The former Barcelona manager has admitted it’s very tough to sign someone who are being courted by the two Spanish giants.

“If you are the only one who want players it’s easy. But if you want one and many, many clubs want him it’s more complicated, especially if it’s Madrid or Barcelona.

“Normally when you are involved with Madrid and Barcelona you are going to lose. You have to be quicker and more efficient.

“But I’m not talking about the case of the Ajax player because he is an Ajax player. There are many players, not just one if it doesn’t happen.”
