Petr Cech threatens to quit Stamford Bridge

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has admitted that he may leave Stamford Bridge in January if things don’t change.

The veteran lost his number-one jersey to Thibaut Courtois ahead of the new season, and is currently occupying the bench for Jose Mourinho, apart from the odd cup game where the Czech will start.

The 32-year-old made his first Premier League appearance of the season at the weekend after Courtois went off injured due to a blow to the head, but with doctors giving him the all clear, it’s likely that the Belgium will be back in the first-team after the international break.

It was believed that Cech would leave over the Summer if told he would be playing second-fiddle, but after sticking around hoping to fight for his place, the veteran is now finally ready to leave the club.

‘I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine,’ he told Czech radio.

‘With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play.

‘I have not spoken to anybody at the club but if the situation will not start to improve for me then I will want to solve it.’
