Raphael Guerreiro Lifts Lid On His Dortmund Future

Raphael Guerreiro revealed how he felt about his future at Borussia Dortmund.

Not too long ago he was linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park with Barcelona and PSG, both interested.

A move never materialised and Guerreiro doubled down to set himself up as a starter at Dortmund. He has been one of BVB’s most influential players over the past 18 months and has a contract until 2023.

He said, “I’ve played very good seasons in Dortmund so far, even if I had a tough time in my second season. But I can have a decisive influence on the game, which is rather unusual for a left-back.

“My statistics here make me positive, but that is not the most important thing, but rather enjoying it on the pitch, helping the team and making myself useful.

“If I go home and I hit the ball five times and I wasn’t able to contribute to the win, that wasn’t a good game for me and I feel bad.

“Not being in the spotlight is not a problem for me. I like to be more reserved and if nobody talks about me, that’s okay. I’m not very active on social media and not seen in movies, so people don’t talk about me that much either.

“But I’m happy with my standing here in Dortmund. People generally talk more about the attackers than about the defenders. ”
