Real Madrid are ready to make a formal bid for Chelsea defender Ashley Cole.
The English international is in his last few months of his current contract at Stamford Bridge, and due to Jose Mourinho favouring Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back, the veteran could be set to leave the club on a free.
Due to the club’s policy of only offering 12-month extensions to players over 30, Cole would only likely be offered a one-year extension at Chelsea, but due to his fall in the pecking order, he could be set to depart the club and Madrid are waiting in the wings to snap up the experienced full-back.
It’s reported that Madrid are prepared to offer the 33-year-old a one-year deal worth around £3.5million a year.
Cole’s representatives are aware of the reports and are open to talking to officials from Spain about a potential Summer move.
