Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is reportedly ruled out for three to four weeks with damaged ankle ligaments.

The Dutch international sustained the injury in United’s 2-1 defeat at Swansea last Saturday, and had to leave the Liberty Stadium on crutches.

United boss Louis van Gaal will confirm the length of van Persie’s spell on the sidelines at his press conference tomorrow.

Van Persie has struggled to find the form of his first season at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, where he scored 30 goals in all competitions.

The 31 year old has only managed 10 this campaign.
