Sakho learning from Liverpool duo.

Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho has said that he is adapting to the English game thank’s to his club team mates, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard respectively, as the impressive Sakho has become a favourite at Liverpool during the short time at the club so far.

The French defender, who is also now a regular for the national team has stated that Liverpool’s two main men have helped him come to term s with English culture, both on and off the pitch.

Sakho, who signed from French champions PSG stated…..

“There is competition but the most important thing is that all the players make themselves ready and available for the group.

“They [Suarez and Gerrard] help the team to grow and help Liverpool get back onto the European stage.

“They are all experienced players and so I can only learn from working alongside them – as a youngster I can benefit from their experience.

“That said, of course I’m working really hard to earn my place in the side, like every player. It’s been going well up to now.”

The defender scored his first goal for the club in Liverpool’s demolition of West Ham United last Saturday afternoon, as Liverpool hammered the Hammers 4-1. Sakho also believes that his side are well worthy enough to win the Premier League title in May after some impressive performances in recent late, with Luis Suarez firing his team into a Champions League spot.

“It meant a lot to everyone to qualify for the World Cup, but the focus now is on our clubs. Everyone knows they have to be playing well for their club if they want to be playing for their country,” Sakho explained.

“Of course everybody has winning the league in their sights but our main objective this season is to get in the Champions League. We’re working hard to achieve that. The team is playing well, the spirit is good and we are moving forward together.”

The strong centre back also believes the Christmas period is vital for the sides progression, as Liverpool play five games in fifteen days over the frantic festive period.

I will be able to adapt – that won’t be a problem. This time of year will be like preparation for next season, when we hope to be back in the Champions League and playing even more games,” he insisted.

“We all realise the importance of these big games coming up. We’ll play as hard as we can to get the points we need to remain in the top four.

Sakho has also revealed that he wants to cap the season off with a World Cup win in France, after scoring a pivotal goal for Les Bleus in the play of win against Ukraine in Paris.
