Samuel Eto’o hints at contract extension

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has dropped a major hint that he could sign a 12-month extension at Stamford Bridge in the Summer, rather than move on like originally expected.

The Cameroon international was signed by Jose Mourinho in the Summer from Russian side Anzhi, and it was expected that it would only be a 12-month stay before he moved elsewhere, former-club Mallorca in Spain being his favoured destination.

However, it now appears that the 33-year-old is happy to remain in England for at least one more season and add much-needed experience to Mourinho’s side.

Eto’o struck his 300th goal in last weekend’s 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur and after, he admitted that another season in England could interest him.

“I am happy here [at Chelsea]. My age is not important,” Eto’o said.

“I work the same like Oscar or Eden Hazard.

“I have more experience and this is good for the team.

“It is an amazing thing [to score 300 club goals] but I have maybe two or three years more [in my career],” told the Evening Standard.

“I think I’m going to score more goals.”
