Simon Kjaer: Liverpool and Manchester United handed transfer boost regarding Danish international

Liverpool and Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost regarding Lille centre-back Simon Kjaer, after Juventus refused to meet the £7.5 million valuation of the Danish international.

Both Liverpool and United have been keeping a close eye on the player, who joined Lille in the summer of 2013 from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The 25-year-old has made 30 appearances for Lille this season, netting four times, and looks set to move onto pastures new in the summer.

It was seemingly just a two-way-tussle between Manchester United and Liverpool, now however Juventus have come in for the defender, who spent a stint on loan at fellow Italian side, Roma, last season.

Though the Turin outfit are not prepared to meet Lille’s asking price, leaving England as the most likely destination for Kjaer, who recently admitted he would be interested in a move to Liverpool.

He said to Danish Television: “It’s not a secret that my family are Liverpool fans, and a move to Liverpool would make my family happy.

“But they support me more than they support anything else, so they are happy where ever I go – as long as I am happy.”
