Spanish giants want Arsenal duo

Spanish champions, Atletico Madrid, are interested in signing Arsenal duo Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

The La Liga winners are already worse off than they were last season after losing three players to Chelsea, and Diego Simeone is keen to start adding new faces to the club, rather than keep losing them.

Diego Costa and Filipe Luis have joined The Blues this Summer, whilst Thibaut Courtois returned to Stamford Bridge after his three-year loan spell, and now Simeone is keen to take some players out of the Premier League, with Arsenal his planned raid.

Madrid have shown serious interest in Cazorla for some time now, and a formal bid is expected to come in from the Spanish side, despite the midfielder revealing his intentions to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

However, since signing from Malaga, Cazorla’s team-mate, Nacho Monreal, could be on his way out as he seeks first-team football, which is hard to get at Arsenal due to Kieran Gibbs cementing the left-back position.

Both Spaniards came from Malaga to Arsenal in the 2012/2013 season, with Cazorla coming in the Summer, and Monreal joining in January.
