Tony Pulis set to bring new players in….but at what cost?

Tony Pulis has been challenged with saving West Brom, and he has already gone on record saying that this will be the toughest challenge of his career to date. Terry Burton, West Brom’s technical director has also stated that Pulis will be bringing in players and will have the final say on who stays.

So with Saido Berahino’s contract talks being put on hold, there is renewed conjecture as to whether the Midlands club will be looking to cash in on the striker to free up some cash for future signings.

Burton said: ‘Tony will do whatever is the best for the club. If he needs to sell somebody he’ll sell him, if he wants to keep somebody he’ll keep him.

‘Pulis is head coach, whatever he wants we’ll make our damndest to try and make it happen.’

Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in the 21-year-old, originally from Burundi, with the Reds considering a ÂŁ20million bid.

When posed with the question about a potential bid from the Anfield men, Burton said: ‘I don’t think Pulis would take that small amount of money. That would be a discussion he would have with us at the time.

‘Berahino is worth what some clubs will pay for him. It’s like any player, if a club wants a player and they want him bad enough, if they’ve got the finances they will try and do that.’

Pulis famously led Crystal Palace to safety last season, winning Premiership Manager of the Year in the process, but has gone on record stating that this job is tougher: ‘There is more pressure here,’ he said. ‘Everybody had written Palace off so it was backs against the wall and everybody against us, we had that motivation.

‘My biggest challenge? Oh yes, because it’s such a short period and this has been going on at West Brom for a while now.’

So, I think we can expect multiple signings from West Brom in the next couple of weeks, but of course, they are going to have to finance those deals….Liverpool, Tottenham, and probably half the Premiership are going to be taking notice.
