Spurs set their sight on West Brom’s Defender Jonny Evans

Tottenham are willing to sell Toby Alderweireld after struggling to come to terms with Defender’s £1,50,000-per-week wage demands. The board does not want to pay such high wages for a 29 year old year and manager Mauricio Pochettino also backs the board.

Alderweireld has a release clause in his contract which will drop his value to £25 million in 12 months time and Spurs want to sell him for around £40 million before his value drops. They have identified Jonny Evans as his replacement.

West Brom are struggling in Premier League this season and currently at the bottom of the table with 10 points adrift of safety.Evans have a release clause in his contract that if West Brom gets relegated he could be available for just £3 million.Spurs are willing to cash in on Toby Alderweireld and considering activating Evans release clause.

Evans would give manager Mauricio Pochettino another experienced option without dramatically blocking the progress of either Sanchez or Foyth.

Evans has been linked with Man City, Arsenal and Everton in the past but Spurs are ready to enter the race, reports The Telegraph.

Manchester City had been interested in signing Evans, but have since spent £57 million on Aymeric Laporte, while Arsenal failed with a January bid for the 30-year-old.
