Tottenham Hotspur have registered a strong interest towards Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Julian Brandt.

The 23-year-old is wanted by Premier League rivals, Liverpool as well. Brandt has contributed 6 goals and 15 assists this season and already has 24 caps for the German national team.

He primarily started out as an attacking midfielder but has played the past few seasons on the wing. Spurs are worried about losing Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid this summer which arise the need to sign a replacement.

The Dane is yet to agree on a contract extension with his current deal set to last till June 2020. Tottenham would be forced to let him go for nothing which could spell disaster in the long run.

Liverpool have been on the player’s tail for quite some time. They failed to sign him back in 2017 which forced them to consider Mohamed Salah.

Now, Jurgen Klopp is looking to further the Anfield talent pool by adding Brandt to the lineup. Mauricio Pochettino needs to rival the German’s efforts, especially since the attacker’s release clause is worth only €25m.

Brandt is highly versatile on the attacking front and could play in numerous positions. He is creative, technically skilled and has the vision to dictate plays. At 23, he has the years in front of him to develop into a star like Eriksen.

Tottenham are due to face off against Liverpool in the Champions League final next month, the result of which could have a major hand in this transfer.
