Tottenham Hotspur are set to beat Arsenal and Cheslea to the signing of Red Star Belgrade striker Luka Jovic in January.

The 17-year-old forward has been impressive Serbian SuperLiga since making his debut last year, with him already scoring 10 goals.

With him being in such fine form, top European managers around the globe are now chasing the Serbian’s signature, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Benfica showing the most interest in the wonderkid so far.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claim that Primeira Liga giants Benfica are closely monitoring the starlet and have been sending scouts to Serbia and are understood to want to get the deal for Jovic and Partizan Belgrade’s Andrija Zivkovic done as soon as possible.

However, Italian publication Calciomercato say Premier League side Spurs are favourites to sign Jovic, with the London club being prepared to offer the most lucrative contract.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is a keen admirer of the Serbia U19 international and is willing to throw Jovic straight into the first-team if he decides to make the switch to White Hart Lane.

The 5ft 11in poacher is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League as he dubs it the ‘best competition in the world’ and likes Pochettino’s willingness to give young stars a chance at the highest level like he has to 19-year-old Dele Alli and 17-year-old Clinton Njie in recent months.
