According to Goal, Manchester United are willing to spend £12.5m in order to land the ex-Arsenal midfielder, but they face competition from AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and rivals Liverpool.

The Cameroonian is expected to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the season but United are reportedly in pole poisiton for the midfielder’s signature as Moyes looks to bolster his midfield.

Moyes, who is also targeting Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho is a long known admirer of Song and feels he would fit adequately into the team and can even fill in at centre back.

Song has featured in just 28 of Barcelona’s 53 matches this season and has struggled to chieve regular first team football since his move from the Emirates. And despite there still being three years left on the 26 year-old’s contract, Song may be tempted to call it quits.

The La Liga champions are no doubt looking to cash in on the move, and will hope to make the £15m back, which they spent to bring him to Spain.

FIFA however has imposed a transfer ban on the Catalan side but this would not disbable the club from selling players.

Barcelona vice-president Manel Arroyo said they will appeal against the ban and thatv their legal team are “working so that we’ll be able to sign new players this summer”
