MANCHESTER UNITED are to put in one last £32m bid for Lucas Moura, after having a bid in the region of £27.2m rejected by the Brazilian club. Sir Alex Ferguson and Chief Executive David Gill are confident of landing the 19 year-old wonderkid and want to wrap a deal up before the Olympics to fend off growing interest from other clubs.
Lucas would be United’s third summer signing, all being midfielders, and would allow United to focus their attentions on the highly wanted Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie and Everton left-back Leighton Baines. With Fabio out on loan at Queens Park Rangers, the left-back spot is looking vulnerable with Patrice Evra lacking suitable cover.
United are currently on their pre-season tour and travel to Shanghai for their match against Didier Drogba’s Shanghai Shenhua on Wednesday before two matches in Scandinavia, including a mouthwatering clash with Barcelona in Gothenburg.
