Van Gaal had previously worked with Robben at Bayern Munich and with the Dutch national team where they developed a strong bond which is why Van Gaal believes the Dutch winger can bolster United.
Since moving to Bayern from Real Madrid, Robben has had a massive impact on the Germans which includes winning 3 league titles, the Champions league and the FIFA world club cup. Bayern do not want to sell their star but if he publicly states he wants to move on then they could change their mind.
United are reportedly said to be willing to offer Bayern up to £24 million in exchange for Robben’s services.
