Liverpool will not be signing free-agent goalkeeper, Victor Valdes, according to manager, Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the Spaniard since the Summer transfer window ended, but Rodgers has ended all speculation by stating they won’t be signing him.
Valdes, who let his contract run out at Barcelona, was ready for a new venture in his football career, but a nasty knee injury earlier in the year prevented him completing a move during the transfer window.
However, now he is a free agent, he can sign for any club if they are willing to take him on, and it looked like Liverpool were going to be his destination, but Rodgers has now confirmed no deal is in place.
When asked if the Spanish player would be joining in the next few months, Rodgers replied: “No.”
Having said this, Rodgers had this to say about Mario Balotelli earlier on in the Summer: “I can categorically tell you Mario Balotelli will not be at Liverpool.”
