Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed that former-manager, Arsene Wenger, has not spoken to him since he returned to England.
The former-Gunner swapped FC Barcelona for Chelsea in the Summer after the Spanish club wanted to sell, and once Wenger rejected the chance to re-sign his former-captain, Chelsea came calling and signed the Spaniard for £27million.
Inserted into Fabregas’ contract at Barca was a buy-back clause and a first refusal clause for Arsenal, but due to them having Mesut Ozil, Wenger rejected the chance to bring back the former-fan favourite, leaving Jose Mourinho an open path to signing the 27-year-old.
Since his return, Fabregas has admitted that Wenger hasn’t spoken to him or tried contacting him at all.
‘No, he [Wenger] hasn’t spoken to me since I came back,’ Fabregas said.
‘It was the kind of relationship I always would have liked to keep.
‘But I’m sure once everything dies down a bit in the future we will talk. There is no problem.
‘I’ll always be grateful to him whatever happens.’
‘On his [Wenger’s] birthdays, for his 1,000th game, he always had a text message from me,’ he added.
‘But I don’t expect anything from anyone in life, positive or negative.
‘I understand his decision and, now I’m at Chelsea, I’ll do everything to make this club win.’
