Pole will secure season-long loan today

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will today complete a season-long loan to Serie A side AS Roma.

The deal was all-but confirmed by Arsene Wenger over the weekend before the Emirates Cup, and it’s now expected to be announced later today after Szczesny revealed he was flying out to Italy.

Keeping Situation at Arsenal

The Pole’s future at the Emirates Stadium was thrown into doubt after the arrival of Petr Cech, but Wenger has confirmed that Szczesny does have a long-term future in North London.

Wenger decided to keep David Ospina alongside Cech as the number-two ‘keeper in North London, after the Colombian rejected moves to Fenerbahce and Everton.

Ospina finished last season as the club’s number-one after high profile errors on and off the field were made by the Polish international.

The 25-year-old posted a video on Instagram of him arriving in Rome and greeting the fans of the club.

He said: “Good evening Roma fans.

“I’m very happy to be signing for Roma. Ciao!”
