Liverpool and United to move for £34m-star

0

Fierce-rivals Manchester United and Liverpool are set to battle it out for £34m-rated Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio.

The Argentinian international has been in fine form for Benfica during the past two seasons, and his consistent displays have attracted several teams from across Europe, including; AC Milan, Hamburg, Monaco and Valladolid.

All interested teams are considering making a January move for Salvio, but Liverpool and United are expected to be in pole position to land the 24-year-old due to them being in England and in the Premier League.

However, according to reports in Portugal, officials from AC Milan have already been to watch some Benfica matches and have been scouting Salvio with a plan on making a New Year move.

Due to the high amount of interest in their star, Benfica have slapped a £34million price-tag on the Argentine’s head, but it’s believed that Liverpool and United are both prepared to spend that much on the winger.

Liverpool keen on beating rivals to Marek Hamsik

0

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool are weighing up a January bid for Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, and are hopeful they can see off competiton from rivals; Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Slovakian international is one of two players linked with a New Year move away from Rafael Benitez’s side, with Gonzalo Higuain also linked with a move away from Serie A, and The Reds are confident of signing one of them, but are keen on signing both.

Rodgers is showing interest in both Hamsik and Higuain and is prepared to spend big in order to land both of them in January, but he faces stiff competition, especially for the play-maker from Slovakia.

Hamsik, who has been one of Napoli’s star-men for several years now, is also being tracked by Chelsea and United, who are both considering January moves as well.

According to reports in Spain, the English trio all want to bring the 27-year-old to England, but it’s believed as it stands, Hamsik is content to stay in Italy.

‘Balotelli is a big lump’, blasts Lawrenson

0

Ex-Red claims Italian cannot replace Luis Suarez

Former-Liverpool defender, Mark Lawrenson, has slaughtered Mario Balotelli, calling him a ‘big lump’.

The football pundit believes the Italian isn’t capable of replacing Luis Suarez, who left the club to join FC Barcelona in the Summer, and despite Brendan Rodgers offering his support to Balotelli, Lawrenson doesn’t believe he’s up for the challenge.

The former-Manchester City striker has only netted once so far for Liverpool, and that was in the Champions League, and Lawrenson has been very critical of the 23-year-old since his arrival.

‘I already believe Rodgers is going to have to make a move for a fast, pacey striker during the January transfer window, especially if [Daniel] Sturridge is going to miss chunks of the season through injury,’ the Match of the Day pundit said.

‘Mario Balotelli had a decent game but he is a big lump up front. He offers a different kind of threat.

‘He [Balotelli] doesn’t have pace and he’s never going to score 20 goals a season.’

There are reports suggesting that Rodgers will bid for Gonzalo Higuain in January, but the Argentine striker has admitted that he’s happy to stay in Italy.

Wayne Rooney apologises for red card

0

Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney, has issued a public apology to the club and it’s fans after he was sent off at Old Trafford against West Ham United.

The Englishman saw a straight red for lashing out at Stewart Downing when The Hammers were on a counter attack, and with the majority of the second-half left, the striker put the team’s 2-1 lead in real jeopardy.

Luckily for Rooney and United, they managed to hold on to the three points, and since the weekend, Rooney has released this statement:

‘It was probably the right decision to send me off,’ said Rooney. ‘I saw the West Ham player making a counter-attack and tried to break-up the play. I just misjudged it. I am gutted that I am going to miss the next three games. I expect people to say it’s my temper again but I was trying to break up the play. It was a dangerous situation and I just misjudged it.

‘But I have no complaints. I haven’t absolutely volleyed the lad. I have tried to trip him up and he got further away from me and that is why my leg is straighter than it should have been. I have apologised to the lads. I think everyone knew (I was in the wrong). I am just grateful they were able to hold on. It’s always tough against 11 men when you are a man down, especially when they are throwing a lot of balls into the box, so I am grateful that we held out.’

Arsenal and Manchester United keen on Ogbonna

0

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to do battle for Juventus defender, Angelo Ogbonna.

According to reports in Italy, the two Premier League sides are scouting the centre-back ahead of a potential January bid once the transfer window reopens.

Both sides are in dire need of defensive reinforcements, with injuries leaving Arsenal very shy at the back, and United leaking goals for fun.

Ogbonna, who has recently broken into his national side, can play either side in the heart of the defence and it’s believed that he will access his future at Juve before making any decisions on a potential move away.

It’s thought if Juve do choose to sell, the English sides would have to part with at least £12million in order to sign him.

Chelsea to play at Twickenham?

0

Chelsea Football Club have opened talks with the Rugby Football Union regarding a potential move to Twickenham whilst Stamford Bridge gets redeveloped.

The West London club announced in the Summer that they were looking into developing Stamford Bridge and expanding on it so that they could challenge the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United for attendance figures, and it’s believed they will expand it from 42,000 to 60,000, making it equal to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

The RFU have confirmed that they have held initial talks with a football club about the possibility of using Twickenham for their home games and with the capacity around 82,000, it’s believed the extended ground will bring in almost double match-day figures for Chelsea.

Wembley is another option for The Blues, but Tottenham Hotspur are also looking for a temporary stadium to play in whilst they build a new one, and Wembley is also on their list as potential grounds.

Eden Hazard rules out PSG…..

0

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has ruled out any potential move to French side, Paris Saint-Germain, but has dropped a massive hint that he may one-day return to his former-club, Lille.

The midfielder, who has become a star at Stamford Bridge, was strongly linked with a move to Paris over the Summer, joining his team-mate, David Luiz, in completing the switch from Chelsea to PSG, but nothing formal came from the initial interest.

However, rumours have struggled to disappear regarding Hazard’s future, but he has confirmed that there is no plans in place for him to join Luiz in Paris, but has hinted at a possible Lille return in the future, the club he still ‘supports and loves’.

He told Canal+ : ‘When I left Lille, I wanted to leave France. I couldn’t join PSG. Every year I’m their priority, but I want to grow at Chelsea.

‘Never say never. But if I were to return to Ligue 1, it will be with Lille, the team that I support & still love.

Sunderland, Villa and Southampton queuing up to sign Young

0

Aston Villa, Sunderand and Southamton are all going to battle it out to sign Man United outcast Ashley Young.

Reports claim that the 3 Premier League teams are the frontrunners to sign Young as he has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Young started the first 3 Premier League matches under new boss Louis van Gaal but has since failed to appear in the team at all.

It’s unlikely that United will recoup the £15m they paid for him in 2011, but know if they don’t accept a modest fee – they will lose him for free.

Young may opt to return to former side Aston Villa, who have already vowed to spend in January to bolster their squad.

Ryan Bertrand takes swipe at ‘dishonest’ Chelsea

0

Ryan Bertrand has branded Chelsea ‘dishonest’ and says the club showed a complete lack of honesty.

Bertrand, currently on loan at Southampton from the Blues said:

“The situation became clear to me before I went on loan to Aston Villa, I was getting those 15, 20, 25, 30-plus games a season, until I hit a stumbling block.

“That’s when the alarm bells rang. Before that, I had a chance to move from the club, but I was advised that I didn’t need to do that.

“It all unravelled in front of my eyes, and certain things didn’t make sense in terms of what certain people had said to me. All I ask for is honesty, and I didn’t get that.”

Bertrand has had seven loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, and this outburst seems likely to ensure the seventh is the last.

However, Bertrand stopped short of mentioning any names when making his comments. It is thought that a fee in the region of £8M would be enough to secure his services on a permanent basis.

Liverpool to open new contract talks with Sterling

0

Liverpool are ready to offer Raheem Sterling over 100k per week in order to stop him from moving to Real Madrid.

Sterling has been attracting interest from the Spanish giants amid reports that talks over a new contract at Anfield were stalling. It is thought that Brendan Rodgers is worried about giving the 19-year-old a bumper contract with fears that he could lose his hunger for the game.

However, Liverpool are ready to offer the midfielder over 100k per week in order to prevent a move to European champions Real, a figure significantly larger than the 30k per week he is currently earning.

Manchester United considering move for Winston Reid

0

Manchester United are considering making a move for West Ham’s New Zealand international defender Winston Reid.

Reid’s contract is up next summer, and the Hammers could be tempted to cash in on the 26-year-old.

Manchester United back line has become increasingly unstable this season with injuries to key players and Louis van Gaal has resorted to handing debuts to youngsters as a result.

Debutant Paddy McNair started against West Ham yesterday, and the 19-year-old impressed with his first game for United.

He was drafted in by Van Gaal to fill the hole in defence with Phil Jones, Tyler Blackett, Chris Smalling and Johnny Evans all absent through injury or suspension.

Reid has made almost 100 league appearances for the Hammers since joining the club in 2010.

Valencia looking to re-sign Juan Mata

0

Valencia are reportedly looking to make a £29.7M bid to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata.

Mata, who made 129 appearances for Los Che between 2007 and 2011, has seen his on-pitch opportunities limited this season by the arrivals of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

United boss Louis Van Gaal has had a selection headache this season, trying to accomodate Di Maria, Falcao, Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in his squad, which has struggled so far this season.

Mata was an automatic choice in his first spell at the Mestalla Stadium, where he scored 33 goals for the Spanish club. He played alongside the likes of David Villa and David Silva. But he has failed to make a major impression this season.

Any potential transfer to Valencia, however, currently hangs on the news of Singaporean Peter Lim’s possible takeover of the club. A move for Alvaro Negrego, currently at United’s Mancunian neighbours City, also depends on the takeover.

Mata has 34 appearances for the Spanish national side, with 10 goals.

Lallana explains slow Liverpool start

0

The £25m signing from Southampton picked up a knee injury in just his second training session with the Reds.

And he looked far from his best yesterday as he faced Everton in the Merseyside derby but it was still the best performance of his in a Liverpool shirt.

“After every game I’m feeling more comfortable,” the winger said.

“I just want to keep working hard and I still feel I can improve even more, get better and put in better performances.

“I don’t want to make excuses, but I did miss pre-season. It’s a valuable part of getting the rustiness out. It’s just going to be with game time now.

“Because of the injuries we’ve had, I’ve probably played a lot more than I would have done coming back from injury. But it has been great – that’s what you need as a player.

“I felt great out there, fitness-wise, and it’s just disappointing we couldn’t get the three points.”

Steven Gerrard put Brenden Rodgers’ men ahead yesterday afternoon before Phil Jagielka stunned Anfield with a long range effort to earn his side a point.

And Lallana was impressed with the way his side reacted to conceding the late goal, he added: “We said during the week we needed to improve and play at a high tempo. I felt we did that – we moved the ball quicker and created more chances.

“It’s just disappointing we couldn’t take a few more of them. We were more solid defensively from set-pieces. So there are positives, but they are going to be clouded over with the result unfortunately.

“It was really frustrating – it was almost the last kick of the game. We thought we played a lot better and there were a lot of improvements.

“Possibly we should have been two or three goals ahead, so we should have taken our chances. You always leave the opposition with a chance with it just being a single-goal margin. We’re absolutely gutted.”

Chelsea plan £50m Barkley bid

0

Chelsea are plotting a huge £50m bid for Ross Barkley next summer, after Man City decided not to withdraw their interest in him. It was reported last week that Manuel Pellegrini was preparing to make a fresh bid for the Everton man, worth about £35m.

But the Toffee’s have claimed that he is not for sale and that he would be worth at least £50m. With that news, City have decided to pull out of the running for the midfielder, after deciding that he is too big of a risk at £50m.

It’s left Chelsea in pole position to sign Barkley and the Blues are reportedly willing to pay all of the £50m asking price for the England international. The two clubs also have a good relationship due to the previous transfers of Romelu Lukaku and the loan of Christian Atsu.

It could be too good of an offer to turn down for Roberto Martinez and, if so, we could see Barkley lining up in Chelsea colours next season.

Rabiot snubs Premier League

0

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been dealt a serious transfer blow as reports claim Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Adrien Rabiot, has opted to join Italian side, AS Roma.

The 19-year-old has been wanted by the English trio for months now, but after failing to agree terms with PSG regarding a new contract, the teenager is now set to leave the French capital and appears to have chosen the Serie A side.

Rabiot’s contract expires next Summer and with no plans to sign an extension, Laurent Blanc is keen to sell him in January so that the club can raise some funds for him, rather than see him leave on a free.

According to reports, Rabiot has already agreed a deal in principle with Rudi Garcia’s side, and will complete the move in June, once his current deal expires in France.

Garcia has already admitted that the club are keeping track of Rabiot’s contract saga at PSG, and it’s believed that the Italian side have offered the starlet a contract worth £4million-a-year.
