Sterling set to pen new Liverpool deal

0

Raheem Sterling is set to sign a new deal at Liverpool, according to The Daily Mirror.

The highly rated 19 year old enjoyed a fine season for the Anfield outfit, scoring nine goals in 30 Premier League games, as Liverpool finished second in the Premier League table.

Sterling only signed a contract extension last year, but Liverpool are set to act swiftly and offer the England international quadruple wages to his current deal, to starve off interest from Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.

The young Englishman currently earns around £30k-a-week, but this new contract could see him leap up to around £120k-a-week, seeing him become one of the club’s top earners.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers recently stated that Sterling is a big part of the clubs, and his plans for the future.

‘This kid is only going to get better. He’s way above the level from when he first came in. Tactically, technically, and what has been beautiful to watch with Raheem has been his maturity.

‘He’s turning into a beautiful young man, with all the responsibility. He’s still only 19, but in big games he’s performed and he’s a wonderful talent.’

Liverpool confident of landing Wilfried Bony

0

Liverpool are confident that they can sign Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony in the next few days, after reportedly offering the Welsh side £16million for the Ivorian.

Bony has been strongly linked with an exit from the Liberty Stadium, after an impressive debut season in England, and with Liverpool in dire need of a new striker due to Luis Suarez leaving for FC Barcelona, the 25-year-old could be Brendan Rodgers’ answer.

The Reds have already had a formal offer of around £12.5m rejected this Summer, but Rodgers is now ready to make a new bid, after he gave up on signing the likes of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.

Rodgers is confident that a £16m bid is enough for Gary Monk to accept, and the Merseyside club want to wrap the deal up in time for their away trip to Manchester City next weekend.

However, according to reports, a major stumbling block is Bony’s wage-demands.

The striker is reportedly keen on the move to Anfield, but is asking for a whopping pay-rise, but due to the interest in the move, Liverpool are confident they can reduce the striker’s demands.

Atletico Madrid in advanced talks with Marco Reus

0

Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are in danger of losing out on Marco Reus after reports from Spain have claimed he is in advanced talks with champions, Atletico Madrid.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Germany this Summer, and once he rejected a contract extension from Jurgen Klopp, the exit rumours started heating up.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing the 23-year-old, but it looks like they’ve fallen behind to Diego Simeone’s side, who are in advanced talks regarding a potential £21.6million deal.

According to said reports in Spain, Atletico are keen on paying half the money now, and then the other half in January, but it’s believed Dortmund would prefer the whole sum immediately, in order to reinvest in the squad.

The stall in payments could see Arsenal and Liverpool claw themselves back in the race, but it seems that they are falling behind in the race for the German star.

Arsenal to make moves for Edinson Cavani, Marco Reus AND Sami Khedira

0

Arsenal are exploring the options of signing trio; Edinson Cavani, Marco Reus and Sami Khedira, before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Arsene Wenger has already been busy, signing four players for the first team, and spending over £60million, but he is still seeking more talent to add to his squad, and the names being linked will certainly excite Arsenal fans.

The most likely transfer may be Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira, as Arsenal’s quest for a holding-midfielder continues.

The La Liga side are reportedly forcing the German international out of the Bernabeu this season so that they don’t lose him on a free next Summer, and it’s Arsenal who are in pole position to land the 27-year-old.

Wenger is still keeping his options open regarding a new striker, and reports are claiming that it could be Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain.

The mega-rich French side are desperate to sign Angel Di Maria from Madrid, but would only be able to complete the move if they sell one of Cavani or Lavezzi, due to Financial Fair Play rules.

A £51million bid is reportedly in the pipeline from Arsenal.

Finally, Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund is also strongly linked with a Summer switch to the Emirates Stadium after rejected a new deal in Germany, and it’s been claimed that the two clubs agreed a transfer fee before Reus’ serious knee injury that kept him out of the World Cup.

Arsenal will have to battle with Liverpool and Atletico Madrid however, if they want to land the midfield star.

Howedes plays down talk of Arsenal move.

0

Benedikt Howedes has distanced himself from a move to Arsenal this summer but claimed he could be interested at some point in the future. The German has been linked to the Gunners this past week, with boss Arsene Wenger keen on bringing in a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who has moved to Barcelona.

But even though there IS a release clause in the player’s contract, the Schalke man claims he is not considering leaving the club this month. He said:

“There will always be rumours, especially when you have won the World Cup. I have not directly heard from those clubs, but my management does not tell me everything anyway.

“Currently, I don’t get too busy with it. I know that I have responsibilities here.”

However, Howedes went on to admit that when the time is right, he would consider a move abroad. He added:

“If I did not love Schalke, I would not have been here for 13 years now. But I have also said that it would be tempting to play abroad one day and learn a new language, have a different surrounding and settle at a new club.

“I leave it open for now when this will be. It does not have to happen now, and also not next year.”

Benatia staying at Roma

0

Mehdi Benatia has reportedly ruled out a move away from Roma this summer, despite interest from numerous Prem clubs.

Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with the Morocco international over the course of the summer. The Blues have recently ruled themselves out of the running, and The Red Devils were believed to be leading the chase and close to a deal but, according to ESPN, Benatia has told fans at his side’s training camp in Austria to ‘relax’ as he will be ‘staying put’.

Roma boss Rudi Garcia has already dismissed the idea of selling the defender this transfer window. He told reporters:

“As far as I can see he has a four-year contract and that’s all that needs to be said.”
