The Dutchman though, had a tendency of going to ground easily. He caused a controversy at the World Cup in 2014 in the game against Mexico. The Netherlands winger went to ground three times in the penalty area and managed to win a penalty on his third try.

He truly used to be a flying Dutchman as he seemed to like ‘flying’ to the ground. The Dutch player though admitted to diving and apologized to the Mexico and the World at large. He is truly one of the worst divers in football.

9. Dele Alli

It happens often enough that it’s fair game to label Dele Alli a serial diver rather than someone who just takes a tumble every now and again, as most players do nowadays.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has made such a habit of it that his own manager has called him out on it in the past – not that it’s stopped him. “He needs to learn,” Mauricio Pochettino warned the midfielder after a particularly dramatic dive against Huddersfield in 2017. “This type of action doesn’t help him, doesn’t help the team and doesn’t help football. We have talked in the last few years about fair play and being honest.”

8. Ashley Young

Ashley Young takes the Runners up spot on the Top 10 worst Divers in Football . The Manchester United is fond of diving whenever he finds himself in the penalty area. Most of the football fans dislike his behavior but its for sure most of the Manchester United fans enjoy the Englishman’s efforts , especially when they pay off. The Englishman seems to have a special touch and makes it look so real. Once his former teammate Darren Fletcher was asked what Ashley Young’s best move was, he replied by saying ‘Diving’.

7. Didier Drogba

In fifth place is the Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba. The former Chelsea man is one who is usually remembered for diving but for his tireless efforts to score and win matches for his team. Didier Drogba also joins the others on the list as he could do anything to see his side to victory even if it had to be diving.

The Ivorian managed to deceive many with his diving skills and won quite a number free kicks. When the striker was not given a free kick , they were times he threw tantrums .

6. Dani Alves

Dani Alves who is a fullback at Sao Paulo makes the list at sixth place. Alves has not really been one of those players who usually dives but the Brazilian player went down theatrically in an El Classico match. Dani Alves, who used to play for Barcelona, was pulled off the pitch on a stretcher after he dived from a challenge from an opponent player once.

5. Luis Suarez

Whenever it comes to players misbehaving or doing all kinds of funny things on the pitch, be it biting, Luis Suarez’s name never misses. The Uruguayan is a crazy stuntman and like all divers , he wants what’s best for his team. During his spell at Liverpool, Suarez was heavily criticized for diving. The attacker responded during one of his premier league goal celebrations by diving to rub it in the critics and media faces.

4. Angel Di Maria

Di Maria has committed some of the worst dives in the game. Back in 2015, the Argentine Argentine was booked for diving as the game entered its final stages, and tugged at the referee’s shirts in retaliation of the decision.

The winger cut in from the right flank, and dribbled past Aaron Ramsey, who then tried to stop him by holding on to him. There was not enough contact to warrant a foul, but Di Maria went down nonetheless, and was booked for the dive.  His reaction however, to being booked, was far from mature, as he had a go at the referee, and caught hold of his shirt, leaving Oliver with no choice but to show him a second yellow card, thus sending him off.

3. Neymar Jr.

In third place is another Brazilian and this time it’s Neymar Jr the PSG star. Neymar who is a world class player and dribbler always knows what to do in order to beat a defender . One thing that is usually criticized in his style of play is his tendency be pushed off the ball easily. The Brazilian who was a promising talent back at Santos has managed to impress at Barcelona but his name has been tarnished due to his diving personality. But that didn’t stop hm moving to PSG and stunning the world with his £200m transfer figure.

2. Sergio Busquets

In second place is none other than the famous cheater Sergio Busquets . The defensive midfielder is a Spain International and Barcelona anchorman. He is known to play dirty and most of the Barcelona fans like that about him. If you are an opposition supporter then you fill the majority that dislike the Spaniard’s attitude. During one of the Champions League games , Sergio Busquets went to the ground after diving and was only caught on camera peeking through his hands to see the referee’s decision.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese superstar is never missing from such lists as he is full of deception. Just like the art of dribbling, diving is all about deception, timing and practice. Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have mastered all these and that’s why he is first of the Top 10 Worst Divers in Football. Ronaldo in his dribbles always leaves his legs behind when he wants to win a free kick in order to invite a challenge.
