Ross Barkley’s transfer to Chelsea under investigation
Ross Barkley has just joined Chelsea from Everton and it’s already under the scanner. The mayor of Liverpool has confirmed that he will be writing to the Premier League and The FA to look into the transfer that has cost Everton £20 million in transfer fee.
This is what he tweeted:
I will be writing to .@premierleague & .@FA calling for investigation into the circumstances around the transfer of Ross Barkley between Everton and Chelsea. Agent pulls transfer on deadline day of £35 million doesn’t play again transfer 4 months later £20 million

The investigation is to look into the matter of the involvement of the Barkley and his agent is reducing the transfer fee. Chelsea and Everton had agreed a £35 million fee for him in the summer but the player decided not to join them.
Today, he’s moved to Stamford Bridge for just £15 million – that is £20 million less than what they had agreed for him in the summer.
The mayor and Everton fans believe that there is something fishy about this. Joe Anderson has called on The FA and the Premier League to check if the player and his agent got any monetary gain from Chelsea for reducing the fee.
The mayor hinted, via his tweet, that it wouldn’t have been an issuer if the player had not played well this season and that had reduced the fee.
