Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, believes he did FC Barcelona a favour by leaving them this Summer.

The Spanish international made the decision to leave Spain in order to go back to England, where he spent eight years with Arsenal, and after informing the club about his decision to leave, he admitted that a move to Chelsea was an easy choice.

In a recent interview, Fabregas admitted that after the Spanish cup final was when he decided he wanted out of the Nou Camp, and after telling officials at the club, he felt that he was doing the right thing for both himself, and also for the Catalan giants.

He told El Pais: “I started to get the idea to go back [to England] after the [Spanish] Cup final.

“I informed the club a week after we lost La Liga. I called Zubizaretta.

“And in response, I felt I was doing them a favour. It was good for me and good for them.

“An offer from Chelsea arrived. I didn’t have a better way out.

“I spoke with Mourinho and he told me the things I needed to hear. I felt valued.”

Fabregas was told by Arsenal that he wasn’t wanted back there due to having Mesut Ozil, and after that, a move to Chelsea was an easy choice for the 27-year-old.

The Gunners did have a buy-back clause in Fabregas’ contract, but when Arsene Wenger was told about his availability, he turned down the chance to re-sign his former-captain.
