West Ham United youngster Declan Rice is all set to switch his allegiance to England, according to reports.

Rice has represented the Republic of Ireland at various levels and even featured in two matches for the senior squad. But none of his appearances came in a competitive game which gives Rice a chance to ponder with his options.

The 19 year old has been extensively used by the Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini and the youngster has excelled in all attributes. Pellegrini has experimented by using him in the holding midfield role and so far the player has delivered a number of solid performances.

London born rice reportedly had a brief meeting with Gareth Southgate and his entourage at the St George’s Park and the defender turned midfielder is pretty impressed with the idea of how Southgate intended to use him in near future.

The Three Lions boss does have the knack to show faith to youngsters and rice could expect the same treatment. He wasn’t included in the recent Republic of Ireland squad although gaffer Martin O’Neill is known to be a big admirer of the player.

Ireland’s recent run of poor results has added to the cause while England’s brilliant 3-2 win over Spain must have turned his head.
