Cardiff City Football Club commonly referred to as The Bluebirds or simply known as Cardiff is a Welsh football club. The club was founded in 1899 and are competing in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The team plays its home matches at the Cardiff City FC Stadium. The club was originally known as Riverside AFC and was renamed in 1908 as Cardiff City FC. At first Riversides used a variety of kits including the chocolate-brown and amber checkered shirt. Since 1908, the club wore blue and black kit, which led to the club being nicknamed as "The Bluebirds". But the club have switched it up with red colours in 2012. Cardiff’s Malaysian businessman owner Vincent Tan outraged their fans when he changed the team’s traditional blue-coloured jerseys to red as part of a marketing strategy this season. The club’s badge also failed to escape corporate clutches, with a red dragon shoving the old bluebird down to the bottom of the crest. However they switched it back to their traditional Blue and Black in 2015. Cardiff are also the only non-English team to win the FA Cup.
