Top 10 Best Liverpool strikers from the Premier League era.

10. Emile Heskey

Heskey wasn’t always critically acclaimed throughout his career, but there is no doubt that he had his best season in the famous Reds.

During the 2000-01 campaign, Heskey formed a lethal partnership with Michael Owen.

The former England international scored 22 goals in all competitions that season, as Liverpool won the treble (UEFA Cup, League Cup and FA Cup).

It may surprise you he’s on here though given his bad reputation and jokes about him but he’s definitely one of the Ten Best Liverpool strikers from the Premier League era.

9. Luis Garcia

Garcia was adored by many of the Liverpool faithful, because he always popped up with important goals in the big games.

He is famous for scoring the ‘ghost goal’ during the Reds’ Champions League semi-final win over Chelsea in 2005.

Liverpool would go on to win the competition that season, thanks to a miracle in Istanbul against AC Milan.

8. Dirk Kuyt

Kuyt was a very popular figure amongst Liverpool supporters, because of the passion he showed and his high work rate on the pitch.

The Dutchman also had a decent goal scoring record for the Anfield club.

During his spell at Liverpool, Kuyt scored 71 goals in 286 appearances in all competitions.

Kuyt represented the ‘hard working’ style that Liverpool had embedded in their ethos throughout the last two decades before Klopp changed them to a more attacking team.

7. Stan Collymore

Collymore had many clubs during his playing career, but he was a ruthless goal scorer wherever he played.

The ex-England international only did two seasons on Merseyside, but his overall record was impeccable.

Collymore scored 28 league goals in 58 games for Liverpool, which is approximately one goal every two games.

6. Daniel Sturridge

Despite his injury record, Sturridge is one of the most prolific strikers in Liverpool’s history.

During his time with the Reds so far, the England star has scored 55 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions.

Sturridge may have lost his place in the team and been shipped out on loan to West Brom this season, but he’s still one of the ten Best Liverpool strikers from the Premier League era.

5. Michael Owen

Owen was a product of the Liverpool academy who burst onto the scene with lightning pace and an eye for goal.

Like Sturridge, the former Real Madrid man is one of Liverpool’s most prolific goal scorers of all time.

During his time at the Reds, Owen scored 158 goals in 297 appearances in all competitions – a record that is better than a goal every two games.

4. Ian Rush

When it comes to Rush playing for Liverpool, the statistics don’t even need to be on show.

He is best known for his partnership with Kenny Dalglish during the 1980s, but he did have a crack at Premier League football.

Rush appeared in four Premier League season’s for Liverpool, more in some than others. However, he did score 45 goals during that time.

3. Fernando Torres

When Torres was at Liverpool, it seemed as though everything he touched turned into goals.

During four seasons with the Reds, the Spaniard scored 81 goals in 142 appearances in all competitions.

Similarly to Sturridge and Owen, that’s better than one goal in every two games.

Torres may have gone to Chelsea and ruined his legacy a bit as one of the greatest Premier League strikers, but from his time at Liverpool, Fernando Torres is for sure one of the top ten best Liverpool strikers from the Premier League era.

2. Robbie Fowler

Fowler was that good at Liverpool, the fans nicknamed him ‘God’.

Like Owen, Fowler was a product of the Reds’ academy system, as well as being one of the club’s most prolific strikers.

During two spells with the club (1993-2001 and 2006-2007), he scored 183 goals in 369 appearances in all competitions.

1. Luis Suarez

Suarez is a controversial figure in his own right, nevertheless, he is a World class striker.

He scored plenty of goals during his time at Liverpool, but his best season was easily the 2013/14 campaign.

That was his final season at the club and he almost fired the Reds to their first ever Premier League title by scoring 31 league goals in 33 games.

Now he’s at Barcelona and he is arguably the best No. 9 in the World today.

In his first 100 games at Barca, he has scored 88 goals and provided 43 assists; as well as winning every trophy possible with the club.
