Skipper wants Guus Hiddink to stay

Chelsea players want Guus Hiddink to remain at the club as manager for next season, but the club-captain John Terry has admitted it’s unlikely to happen.

John Obi Mikel came out publicly stating his desire to see Hiddink remain at the club, as did Oscar, but according to Terry, it’s unlikely to happen with Hiddink happy to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Dutchman was hired as an interim-manager following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho, and since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he’s yet to taste defeat in the Premier League.

Hiddink’s incredible influence has taken Chelsea from 16th in the table to 10th and although the players want him to stay, Terry can’t see it happening.

Terry Talks Managers

Terry said: “We’ve all kind of said it but the club’s made that clear, he’s made it clear as well.

“Certainly what he has done is put himself in the shop window. I bet there’s a million clubs out there, seeing what he’s done at the football club.

“Who knows? It might be an opportunity for him, or whether he’ll stay in a role within the club I’m not sure. Both times Guus (has managed Chelsea he) has been perfect.”
