Laurent Koscielny is expected to make his Arsenal return against Huddersfield Town this Saturday.

The defender who has been recuperating from a torn Achilles since the Europa Leagu semifinal last season is on the last stage of being match fit and could make his first appearance in seven months.

The defender gave another injury scare when he had to be substituted after completing 85 minutes in Arsenal U23’s Checkatrade Trophy victory over Portsmouth.

But later the club dismissed all the speculations issuing an official statement. “Laurent Koscielny continued his rehabilitation on Tuesday with an appearance for our U21s in a Checkatrade Trophy game at Portsmouth.

“We lost 2-1, but Laurent completed 85 minutes and has come through the game without complications.”

The Gunners also confirmed he won’t be available against Manchester United and will undergo a further fitness ahead of their meeting with Terriers.

It would be a huge boost for Unai Emery who now will have a number of defenders at his disposal to choose from.

It is not sure whether the player is in Emery’s plan or not but the gaffer definitely will try the club captain at least a number of times before coming to a conclusion.
