Liverpool interested in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The Brazilian midfielder has made a strong start to this campaign scoring an impressive five goals in the Premier League.

He was expected to leave Aston Villa earlier this year but has taken his game to a new level under the management of Unai Emery.

Luiz’s performance in the middle of the park hasn’t gone unnoticed with Liverpool and Arsenal crediting an interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.

Liverpool missed out on both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia this summer and they are yet to find a perfect replacement for Fabinho who joined Al-Ittihad.

Ex-Liverpool winger John Barnes claims the Brazilian midfielder would be a perfect addition to Liverpool’s starting XI.

“City already have Rodri and in fact they initially had Douglas Luiz and let him go. Liverpool need someone like Luiz more than City do. City won’t be playing him and Rodri together,” Barnes told bonuscodebets.co.uk.

“Liverpool need a defensive midfielder in the number six role so from his point of view in terms of game time and playing more regularly coming to Liverpool would make the most sense.

“Money talks and I think we’ve seen if a player wants to leave there’s not much a manager can do to stop the player. It’s the way football is.”
