Man United are preparing to trigger a 12-month contract extension.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has eight months left on his contract with the Red Devils and it was reported that the club would offer the defender a new deal after the summer transfer window.

But according to The Daily Mail, the club has changed its stance on the defender and instead wants to offer him a 12-month contract extension.

The 25-year-old England international started the first four Premier League games of the campaign before picking up a hamstring injury in a game against Brighton.

It was reported that Wan-Bissaka was deemed surplus to requirements by Erik Ten Hag when he arrived but the defender has turned his fortunes around in the latter half of the 2022/23 campaign.

If Man United fails to trigger the extension clause by the end of this year, Wan-Bissaka would be allowed to talk to other clubs in January and leave for free in the next summer window.

The England international has currently returned to training after missing nine matches, including five in the Premier League.
