According to Sport, Neymar is on the brink of a return to Barcelona two years after leaving the club for PSG.
The Brazilian joined PSG in 2017 on a world record transfer fee of €222 million. Neymar has made the most out of his playing time at PSG, netting 51 goals and providing 29 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions. Injuries prevented Neymar from playing the entirety of his two seasons at PSG so far.
There were several reports suggesting that Neymar would return to La Liga. Real Madrid were strongly linked to the Brazilian but now it seems that it will be his old club Barcelona where Neymar will play in the upcoming season.
Neymar has reportedly agreed to a 5-year contract at Barcelona which will see him earning £400000 a week. Neymar’s first stint at Barcelona began in 2013 when he signed for the club from Santos on a transfer fee of €57.1 million. The Brazilian forged a lethal partnership up front with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez during his stint at the club. Neymar made 186 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 105 goals and providing 76 assists.
Barcelona already have one summer signing in Frenkie de Jong and if they sign Neymar, it’ll be a huge asset for the club. This could be the signing that could bring the Champions League back to the Camp Nou for the first time in 5 years.
