Unai Emery has refused to address Mesut Ozil’s future after the German failed to get a place in the Arsenal squad in the Carabao Cup quarter final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

Goals from Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli secured a famous win in the North London derby setting up a semifinal clash against their London rival Chelsea. Ozil’s future has been up in the air and his absence from the Carabao Cup clash has only intensified speculations.

Ozil was not involved in the last few matches due to a back problem and made a brief appearance from the bench in the 3-2 defeat against Southampton.

Emery revealed he decided to leave Ozil from the squad for a tactical change. “The players that were with us today were best for this match. We have 24-25 players, whether one plays or another doesn’t, the decision is for me and today it was tactical.”

“My focus now is analyzing this match and also Saturday, Burnley is very important.

“Tomorrow we are going to train with every player. I am thinking about Saturday and not thinking about another situation.

“Every player is important and one I decided didn’t play and that was tactical.”
