Valencia keen on Witsel

The Spanish side have reportedly joined the race to sign Axel Witsel

Chelsea, Manchester United and now Valencia all want Witsel, according to Russian newspaper Izvestia.

Zenit St. Petersburg are believed to want around £28million for the Belgian international and Valencia, backed by billionaire businessman Peter Lim, are prepared to meet the Russian club’s valuation.

Any deal for the 26-year-old could be put on hold if Zenit don’t find a replacement – they are believed to have had £10million bid rejected for PSV Einhoven’s Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutch side have already lost Memphis Depay to United and manager Phillip Cocu is keen to avoid any more players leaving the Philips Stadion.

Premier League interest

United manager Louis Van Gaal is searching for a long-term successor to Michael Carrrick and thinks Witsel would be the ideal replacement.

The Zenit midfielder, who scored four goals in 26 games last season, played a key role in helping the Russian side win the league for the first time in three years.

Ramos to United

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is also thought to be on United’s shopping list but the Red Devils would have to pay around £50million for the Spaniard.

The La Liga giants are reluctant to sell the 29-year-old but they could allow Ramos to leave in return for United goalkeeper David De Gea.
