Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared that he was right to pass on the opportunity to bring Cesc Fabregas back to Arsenal.

The Spanish playmaker decided to join rivals Chelsea during the summer window after being allowed to leave by Spanish Giants Barcelona.

His decision to join the Blues sent shockwaves throughout Arsenal fans who believed that Wenger would of been the first person to enquire about the availibility of the player.

Fabregas was a huge fan favourite throughout all fans of Arsenal, and have been disappointed when news broke that Wenger was never in the race for Fabregas.

However Wenger insists that he has not lost any sleep over his decision, and that his only regret was selling Fabregas to Barcelona in the first place.

Wenger said: “Yes it was strange to see him in Chelsea shirt.

“You have to accept that professional players move from club to club and it was difficult for me to see him leave us.

“Once he has left us you accept the idea he can move to some different clubs.

“Of course it was a bit strange but he had a good game.

“I have no regret about not signing him. My regret is when he left us.”
