England midfielder is on the south coast to reignite his career

Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has vowed to reignite his career and prove his critics wrong while on loan at AFC Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old came through Arsenal’s youth ranks and was rated highly by everyone at the club, including a large number of Gunners fans. But the club, and the player himself, have taken stick in recent years for the midfielder’s lack of impact.

Wilshere has been blighted by injury in his career so far and the England midfielder wants to get as many games as possible while on loan with the Cherries, to help prove his worth and help the club climb the Premier League table.

“The biggest aim for me, and I am sure everyone is aware of it, is to get as many games as possible. That was the idea coming here.” said Wilshere, following Bournemouth’s 1-0 win over West Brom on Saturday.

“If there’s any question mark over me I know it’s my fitness. So hopefully I can play as many games as possible, prove everyone wrong and re-kick my career.”

Wilshere was the shock deadline day transfer, when he arrived on south coast for an unexpected loan move to the Cherries, which left Arsenal fans baffled.

But the 24-year-old is pleased to have linked up with old Arsenal teammate Benik Afobe at Bournemouth, having now made his first appearance for Eddie Howe’s men, coming on for the final 28 minutes on Saturday.

“I thought we did very well and deserved the three points. It was great at the end to be on the pitch celebrating and applauding the fans – that’s what it is all about.” Wilshere added.

“Hopefully if we can keep performing like that and getting results then they will keep coming.”
